Why do you work for Better Century, and what do you do?
People and culture are fundamental to drive the transition to net zero and nature positive. Empowering individuals by providing pathways to meaningful local action and employee led change is a powerful way to inspire individuals and communities to be part of the solution.

I help deliver Civil Society engagement activities for clients:

  • Producing events engaging the finance and corporate sector in nature, including content and speakers.
  • Delivering events by chairing sessions, supporting speakers and delegates around involvement.
  • Ensure clients get a great experience in working with us, by helping them realise their goals.

I help deliver Employee Led Transition plans for clients:

  • Advisor in the delivery of this programme of works for clients.
  • Deliver Employee Engagement Transition Plan workshops, helping identify key outputs from workshops.
  • Identify clear transition actions favoured by employees to progress into a transition plan.

What experience do you have to deliver this work?Emma is a nature strategy advisor, working with restoration projects to help build connections and partnerships with local communities and business. She is the co-founder of the Nature Circle, providing experiences to connect leaders to nature learning and leadership experiences in the Chilterns National Landscape.

A former PwC partner, she brings over 20 years experience leading change and impact projects across four continents, with lead roles in the Sustainability and Climate Change and Financial Services practices. Most recently she’s led finance, governance and advisory roles for non profit and social enterprise organisations in East Africa.

She is passionate about driving business engagement to support nature recovery in the UK and exploring the Chilterns, volunteering with several local conservation organisations.

What do you believe is needed to overcome the nature and climate challenge?
The journey to address climate change, restore our landscapes and properly value the services our natural environment provides needs systems change. How can we bring natural living systems into the way we lead and make decisions in our businesses and communities? Engaging people and culture is fundamental to drive this change and empowering individuals through pathways to individual action plays an important role.
